Video games of every genre, and a few with none.
OddHangar is a video game studio with no favorite genre. If it can be played, it can be wheeled in here.
What goes on in here
We make video games and refuse to settle on one kind. A tight puzzle game one month, something with a badly behaved physics engine the next.
Most of it starts as an experiment: a small, fast prototype built to answer one question. Is this strange idea actually fun?
How a game leaves the hangar
-
Odd idea
Usually on a Tuesday.
-
Prototype
Ugly, fast, playable.
-
Poke it
Strangers play. We watch.
-
Keep or bin
Most get binned. Fondly.
-
Daylight
Polished, then rolled out.
Genres allowed in the hangar
No house genre. Just a wall of paint chips. Pick two and mix them: that's roughly how our experiments start.
The tint machine
Tap any two chips to mix them.
Rhythm horror game
Off-Beat Plum #C16A98
Absolutely not. Okay, maybe.
House rules
Painted on the wall next to the kettle. Numbered like the bays. Nobody remembers why.
-
NoticeRule 1
Prototype first, argue later.
Ten minutes of playing beats an hour of talking.
-
CautionRule 3
Fun for ten seconds? It gets ten more.
Then ten minutes. Then ten hours. That's how a game happens.
-
NoticeRule 5
No genre is off limits.
Including the ones nobody has named yet.
-
PleaseRule 7
Playtest with people who don't love you.
Friends are kind. Strangers are useful.
-
CautionRule 9
Weird is where you start, not where you stop.
The odd idea gets you in. It still has to be good.
-
NoticeRule 11
Finish things.
The odd ones too. Especially the odd ones.
Under the tarps
Whatever we're building right now lives under these tarps. The covers come off when it's ready to roll out.
Want a nudge when that happens? Send us a note.
-
Tarp 1 Lumpy. Hums a bit.
-
Tarp 3 Taller than it was on Monday.
-
Tarp 5 Do not feed.
Knock on the door
Press, partnerships, playtests, publishing, very specific ideas about ducks. It all comes through one door.
Or pick a knock:
A human reads every knock. Deep in a prototype? Replies can take a few days. Need our logo? Grab the brand kit.
